Question 1

Can the mass flow meter directly display the flow rate?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The transmitter's 3-line backlit display shows mass flow rate, totalized flow, density and temperature directly — no external readout required. It also provides 4-20mA, pulse, HART and Modbus RTU/RS-485 outputs for remote monitoring and DCS integration.

Question 2

Will impurities in the medium affect the measurement accuracy of the flowmeter?

Accepted Answer

Coriolis mass flow meters have no moving parts and no obstructions in the measuring tube, so impurities, bubbles and particulates pass through without damaging the meter. Severe two-phase flow can temporarily affect readings, but the meter recovers automatically once conditions stabilize. For dirty applications, we recommend a strainer upstream.

Question 3

Is it necessary to modify the original pipeline when installing a mass flowmeter?

Accepted Answer

In most cases no major modifications are needed. Coriolis meters require no straight pipe runs upstream or downstream, unlike turbine or orifice meters. Ultra-compact U-tube designs fit into tight skids, and thread, flange and sanitary process connections are available to match existing piping.

Question 4

Can a mass flowmeter be directly connected to an intelligent control system?

Accepted Answer

Yes. VIBOTRA transmitters support HART, 4-20mA current loop, Modbus RTU/RS-485 and active pulse outputs, covering virtually all DCS, PLC and SCADA systems. Configuration software (CLS100 standard, CLS200/CLS300 optional) simplifies commissioning.

Question 5

Can the gas mass flow meter accurately measure when different gases are mixed?

Accepted Answer

Coriolis meters measure mass flow directly, independent of gas composition, so mixed gases are measured accurately without compensation tables. The live density output also lets operators monitor composition changes in real time.

Question 6

Will the data of the mass flowmeter be lost?

Accepted Answer

No. Totalizer values and configuration are stored in non-volatile memory and survive power outages. The transmitter automatically resumes measurement when power returns, with historical totals intact.

Question 7

Can non-professionals operate a mass flow meter?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The transmitter uses a 3-line backlit display with touch-key control and a guided menu in Chinese, English and Russian. Most users complete basic setup — zeroing, range and output configuration — without specialist training, and our engineers provide remote support when needed.

Question 8

How much does a Coriolis mass flow meter cost?

Accepted Answer

Price depends on line size, accuracy class, wetted materials and certifications — a DN15 general-purpose meter costs far less than a DN100 custody-transfer unit with exotic alloys. As a manufacturer, VIBOTRA offers direct pricing without distributor markups. Send your process parameters for a firm quote within 24 hours.

Question 9

How often should a Coriolis flow meter be calibrated?

Accepted Answer

Coriolis meters are inherently stable with no moving parts to wear, so calibration intervals of 1-3 years are typical depending on your quality system. Many users verify in-situ with transmitter diagnostics and only recalibrate when process-critical. We provide calibration certificates and recalibration service.

Question 10

What is the delivery lead time?

Accepted Answer

Standard models ship within 2-4 weeks of order confirmation. Custom configurations — special alloys, approvals or large line sizes — may take 6-8 weeks. Contact us with your specifications for an exact schedule.

Question 11

Can Coriolis meters be used for custody transfer?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Models such as the CMASS series achieve up to ±0.1% mass flow accuracy, meeting fiscal and custody transfer requirements for LNG, refined products and chemicals. Direct mass measurement eliminates errors from temperature and pressure variations that affect volumetric meters.

Question 12

What regions do you ship to?

Accepted Answer

We export across the Middle East (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar), Africa (Egypt, Nigeria, Kenya) and Southeast Asia (Vietnam, Indonesia), with FOB and DDP terms and full export documentation handled by our team.

Question 13

What communication protocols are supported?

Accepted Answer

Standard outputs include 4-20mA, pulse, HART and Modbus RTU/RS-485. The transmitter housing is rated IP66/IP67 with 304 stainless steel construction for harsh environments.
